What are your shipping rates and times?

At checkout, you type in the date you want your dress(es) delivered and then select the shipping method that corresponds to that date. We ship so your order arrives on that date, which is also the beginning of the rental period.

FedEx Ground ($8): Arrives on the 6th business day from the date the order is placed, or on any later date you specify at checkout. (Business days are Monday through Friday not including weekends or holidays.)
FedEx Express Saver ($16): Arrives on the 4th business day from the date the order is placed. (Business days are Monday through Friday not including weekends or holidays.)
FedEx Overnight ($42): For orders placed Monday through Friday by 11:00 AM PST, delivery is next Business Day afternoon (no holidays or weekends). If after, add one business day.

Dresses are delivered directly to you, to try on in your home, with your shoes and accessories close at hand. Rental returns are super easy, and return shipping is free! How many dresses can I rent at a time?

Each rental order can contain up to two (2) items, meaning one (1) dress style and its matching 2nd Size for Free dress (if available). You can place up to 2 rental orders at a time, thus having a total of two (2) styles and their 2nd Size Free dresses out at a time.

How do I rent a dress from RentMaternityWear.com?

Enjoy looking through the dresses, read their descriptions and fit information, and add those you wish to rent to your shopping bag. You do this by selecting first the size, then the color, then the rental period, and then clicking “add to bag.” When you ready to checkout, click on “Checkout” at the top of the home page. During the check out process you will be asked to create your login and password, and to type in your ‘Ship To’ information. You will also be asked to enter your credit card information to pay for the rental and the shipping method of your choice. Before you click “Submit Order,” which is the last step, you must click “I Agree” to the RentMaternityWear.com Rental Agreement before you can submit your order.

Another online dress rental company wouldn’t give me my money back – only a "store credit" – when I returned their dresses because I didn’t like the style on me. Do you do that?

No – we refund your money. RentMaternityWear.com is a VERY customer service-driven company, and we want you to be happy with every aspect of your orders, even the ones that don’t work out. In fact, we also cover the cost of return shipping on the first dress you need to return (and its 2nd Size for Free dress). After the first dress not kept for rental is returned, there is a $6 return shipping fee deducted from the refund of the rental fee, similar to the policies of most major internet retailers. And please remember, all dresses kept for their rental periods ALWAYS ship back for free in their included, pre-paid, pre-labeled mailing polybag.

Is shipping time part of the rental period?

No. The rental period begins when FedEx scans your order as delivered. If you choose FedEx Ground Shipping, plan on the rental period beginning 6 business days from the date you place your order. If you choose FedEx Express 3-Day shipping, plan on the rental period beginning 4 business days from the date you place your order. (If the dress arrives earlier, that is free time for you!)

I have never rented a dress before – are they in good condition?

RentMaternityWear.com only rents dresses that are in pristine condition. All our dresses are bought brand new from top quality maternity designers and manufacturers, and after each rental our dresses are expertly cleaned upon their return. At RMW our rule is “If our Founder wouldn’t wear it and represent our Company in it, we won’t show it – and certainly wouldn’t ship it.” We thoroughly inspect all dresses upon their return, and when a dress begins to look less than pristine, we are quick to retire it from our collection.

How many times is a dress rented?

On average, our dresses are rented 3 to 4 times before they are retired. Certain very popular styles may be rented more, but all of our dresses must be in perfect condition, meaning brand new or next-to-new before they ship to our customers. For many of our dresses, we also offer a unique “guaranteed brand new or rented only once” rental option for an additional $25.

I know my event date, when should I place my order?

We will ship your dress to arrive on the date you type in at checkout. As a rule of thumb, we recommend you place your order at least 10 days before your event date if you wish to use FedEx Ground shipping ($8), or 7 days before your event if you use FedEx 3-day shipping ($16). This ensures the dress(es) will arrive a day or two before your event and gives you time to try them on and to select your accessories.

How long can I rent a dress for?

You have the initial option to rent dresses for one (1) week, or for (2) two weeks.

Why doesn't the “If Available, Add Free 2nd Size?” option appear when selecting the rental option “1 Week – Guaranteed Brand New or Rented Only Once”?

Due to the real-time nature of our inventory, we are unable to guarantee the 2nd Size for Free if Available Dress will also be Brand New or Rented Only Once. If you wish to have a 2nd Size for Free if Available Dress, during check out you can type into the box where you type the delivery date “please add size (insert size here)” and we will do our best to include it. Please note: The 2nd Size for Free if Available Dress will be excellent, as all our dresses are, but it will not be Brand New or Rented Only Once.

If the “no thank you” option keeps appearing for the “1 Week” and “2 Weeks” rental options, it means we are too low on inventory in that particular style to be able to include the 2nd Size for Free if Available Dress with your order. If you need the 2nd Size for Free if Available Dress, and the dropdown is not showing it, you can place a second order for the same style. Once you receive both orders, you can then Try On Return the size that doesn’t work for a rental fee refund. This way you are assured of receiving both sizes in a very popular style.

How long does it take to process a refund?

Please allow up to 10 business days after receipt by our inventory processing department to process a refund. You can track when your dress(es) were received by RMW by using the USPS tracking number that comes with your order.

Can I use FedEx Delivery Manager to be alerted when my dress is about to be delivered, customize delivery options such as the time of delivery, and make changes to the delivery address if I need to?

Yes! We exclusively use FedEx to deliver our dresses to our customers because FedEx is the most reliable, customer-focused delivery company. At checkout after you see RMW’s “Thank you for your order” page, you can click on the FedEx.com Delivery Manager Demo link to learn more about FedEx’s Delivery Manager Service. Please note: FedEx Delivery Manager is a service provided by FedEx, not by RentMaternityWear.com.

ORDERING QUESTIONS

If I order two styles to try, why do I have to place two orders with two shipping charges?

Our system "thinks" in terms of rentals rather than styles, and every unit in RMW’s inventory has its own schedule. Therefore, in order for us to ensure delivery of the dresses our customers want, on the specified days they select, we are unable to confirm that dresses will ship together. Also, if a customer rents two styles for one event, we know that one style (usually 2 units) will have an opportunity cost to our company as a result of those units being out of inventory and not ultimately kept for rental. We incur costs processing and returning those “unsuccessful rentals” but rather than offset those costs with a “store credit only” policy for returns, we refund your money. As a customer service-driven company, it is our hope that our service is worth the shipping charge.

What if a dress does not fit?

At RentMaternityWear.com, we understand that your body is in transition and you might not be quite sure about sizing. That’s why we provide you with a 2nd Size For Free dress whenever available. We also provide you with the option to return dresses within 48 hours for a refund; we call this our “48-Hour-Try-On-Return” benefit. Additionally, the first dress you need to Try-On-Return ALSO ships back to RMW for FREE. After that, there is a nominal $6 return shipping/processing fee for a dress NOT kept for rental (which also covers its 2nd Size Free dress), which is deducted from the rental fee refund, similar to the return shipping policies of most major internet retailers. Are there late fees?

The dress does NOT have to be in our possession, or be on its way back, by the due date indicated in the rental letter. However it DOES have to be in a mailbox within 24 hours after the due date. The postal service's scan will let us know it is on its way back. If a dress has not been scanned within 24 hours after the due date (with extra time allowed for days when the postal service does not pick up, such as Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays) there is a $25 per day late fee until the dress is received at RentMaternityWear.com. If the dress has not been scanned within 8 days after the rental period has expired, we will assume you are not going to return the dress and we will charge you twice the retail value of the dress in addition to six (6) weeks of lost rental time. Our service is based upon our ability to ship high quality and fashionable dresses to you in a timely manner and your ability and desire to return the dresses to us in excellent condition and in a timely manner. Any dress that you choose to return for a refund within the 48 Hour Try On Return option must be on its way back to us within 48 hours from the time it was scanned as having been delivered to your Ship To address. If the return scan exceeds the allowed 48 hours, the dress will be considered “Rented” and our standard rental rates apply.

How many dresses can I rent at a time?

How do I rent a dress from RentMaternityWear.com?

The dress I want says “Temporarily Out of Stock” – when will it be available again?

Because RMW’s website functions on a “first come, first served” basis, a “Temporarily Out of Stock” message appears when a style is presently unavailable for rent, but is returning into inventory soon. Because dresses are continuously returning, if you email us with the size, color and date you want to receive the dress, (or include this information after clicking the “Ask a Question” button on the dress’product page) we can arrange a phone order to reserve an incoming dress for you.

Why are a login and password needed in order to rent?

Our business is dedicated to serving pregnant women who need fashionable special occasion dresses, yet don’t want to buy something they are likely to wear only once or twice. By setting up a login and password we are able to provide you with specialized and valuable services you might not otherwise expect. For example, we pay for the return shipping on the first dress you try on, but decide not to rent and return for a refund. For all dresses you do keep and wear, we provide free return shipping no matter how many you rent.

Unlike other internet apparel rental sites, we DO NOT charge your credit card for the full retail value of the dress(es) AND the rental fee when you place an order. We DO NOT make you pay for “insurance” by automatically adding it to your shopping bag. We believe in trust: If you trust us by creating a RentMaternityWear.com login and password, we trust you with our dresses. It’s that simple.

What do I get for creating a login and password?

You will receive free return shipping on all dresses kept for their rental period. Additionally, with every order, you ALSO receive a 48 Hour Try On Period in which you can decide if you want to keep a dress for rental or return it for a refund. You will ALSO receive free return shipping on the first dress that you Try-On-Return (and its 2nd Size Free dress). After the first Try-On-Return, for dresses not kept for rental there is a nominal $6 return shipping/processing fee deducted from the refund (which is similar to the return shipping policies of most major internet retailers).

How do I know your website is safe?

RETURNS QUESTIONS

How do I return an item?

Simply put the dress(es) in the pre-labeled polybag that was enclosed with your order. Drop the polybag into any U.S. mailbox or leave it in your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up. Because the package is already in the postal service’s system, and the scan will tell us it is on its way back, you do not need a receipt. We will send you a confirming email when we receive the returned dress.

What is your return policy?

RentMaternityWear.com provides the option to return dresses for a refund of the rental fee -- not a "store credit." We call this our "48-Hour Try On Return" Benefit. Just leave the RMW hangtag on, put the dress (and its matching 2nd Size for Free If Available dress) into the provided pre-labeled, pre-paid return mailer, and drop it in the mail within 48 hours of receiving it. We will process your refund upon our receipt of the dresses, usually within 10 business days.

Additionally, your first 48-Hour Try On Return ships back for FREE. Starting with the second 48-Hour Try On Return, returned dresses NOT kept for rental have a $6 per order return shipping fee deducted from the refund, similar to the policies of most major internet retailers.

Unlike some online dress rental companies, we do not penalize you if you have to cancel your order -- at any time. Simply call us (1.888.769.7692 toll free) or email us to let us know you need to cancel your order and we will do so. If the order has already shipped, we will let you know, and we’ll ask that you simply return it in its pre-paid mailing polybag within 48 hours of receiving it and we will refund the rental fee (only) once the dress is returned to us. (Unfortunately, once a dress has shipped we are unable to refund outbound shipping fees because we need to pay the shipping company.)

How will I know when my item has shipped?

We will send you a confirmation e-mail to let you know your item has shipped.

TIMING QUESTIONS

Why don’t you have month-long rentals?

At RMW, it’s our pleasure and priority to provide our customers with pristine, expertly dry cleaned special occasion dresses which are typically worn for only a few hours – not a garment that may have been regularly worn and washed over a period of 4 to 12 weeks during a rental. Our careful eye to quality control requires that our dresses return to RMW as soon as possible so they can be dry cleaned by our approved dry cleaning providers, which is included in our rental fees.

My event is months from now. I'm really nervous about not trying on the dress until just before the event. Is there a way to try on the dress now without having to rent it twice?

Yes! With every order, we provide the option to receive a refund of the rental fee when you use our "48-Hour Try On Return" Benefit. This way, you can rent a dress early to see if it works; return it within the 48-hour Try-On-Return period by dropping it in the mail in its included pre-paid, pre-labeled mailer; get a refund of the rental fee upon our receipt of the returned dress; and then re-order the dress for a delivery date several days before the event. And with the 2nd (final) order, you can also select a 2nd Size for Free if Available dress for a little extra reassurance!

The return shipping on your first Try On Return is FREE. After that, for dresses not kept for rental there is a $6 per order return shipping fee, similar to the policies of most internet retailers. Dresses kept for rental ALWAYS return ship for FREE.

So basically the cost of trying a dress early is the outbound shipping fee ($8 for FedEx Ground) that brings the dress to you. Many customers feel this is worthwhile because it saves them the time and money of driving around from store to store trying dresses on. (We are unfortunately unable to refund the outbound shipping fee because we need to pay our delivery company.)

For a 1-week rental, when does the dress have to be mailed back?

For a 1-week rental, you can enjoy your dress for a full 7 days and then mail it back on the 8th day. For example, if you choose to receive your dress on a Wednesday, you can keep it through the following Wednesday, with it due to be put in the mail on Thursday.

How do I know exactly when I’ll have my dress(es), and for how long?

During checkout we ask you to type in the date you want to receive your dress(es). We will ship so they arrive on that date. That date is also the first day of the Rental Period. For a 1-week rental, add 7 days. The 7th day is the last day of the Rental Period and the dresses will be due to be mailed back on the following day (the 8th day) at the very latest.

For example: For an event on Saturday, January 8th, type in a delivery date of January 5th (to give you some time to try the dresses on and to figure out accessories). Add 7 days to January 5th for the 1-week Rental Period, and the last day of the Rental Period is January 12th, with the dresses due to be mailed back the following day (January 13th) at the latest. As part of our service, we enclose a cover letter with your dresses to remind you of the Rental Period and the date the dresses are due to be mailed back. (2nd Size Free dresses are always mailed back with their matching dress, whether they are kept for rental or Try-On-Returned.)

How early can I place my order to reserve a dress?

As early as you like. During checkout you will be asked to type in when you want the dress delivered and we will ship it for delivery on that date. That delivery date is also the beginning of the rental period. When you submit your order and receive our “Thank You For Your Order” confirmation, the dress is confirmed as yours for that rental period and will be delivered on that date.

I know my event date, when should I place my order?

We will ship your dress to arrive on the date you type in at checkout. As a rule of thumb, we recommend you place your order at least 10 days before your event date if you wish to use FedEx Ground shipping ($8), or 7 days before your event if you use FedEx 3-day shipping ($16). What if I need the dress tomorrow?

If you place your order before 11:00 AM PST, and select FedEx Overnight as your shipping option, we can get it to you the next day, EXCEPT for Sundays and Holidays. However, if possible, we recommend you allow for at least one more day (still choosing the FedEx Overnight shipping), so you have time to try the dress on and see how it will work for you.

How long can I rent a dress for?

Can I keep a dress longer?

Certainly! If you would like to extend the rental period so as to enjoy wearing your dress for more occasions, simply contact customer service by e-mail ( customerservice@rentmaternitywear.com ) or by phone 1.888.769.7692, and we will gladly extend your rental and apply the appropriate rental fee.

How do I know exactly which dates I will have the dress?

When you checkout, there is a box to type in the date you want your dress delivered. The rental period will begin on that date, and we will ship the dress for delivery on that date. The 48-Hour-Try-On-Return Period also begins on that date. With your order, you will also receive a letter confirming the rental period and what date the dress is due to be mailed back.

Just like the major retailers, every season our buyers go to Market Week and buy the newest styles directly from the top manufacturers and designers. Please note: We only buy brand new units from established designers and manufacturers; we are unable to consider offers of items from individuals.

Can I buy the dress I’ve rented – I love it!

Possibly! It depends on how many units we have of the dress and where it is in its rental life cycle. We have sold dresses to happy customers, and if we can, we’ll certainly do the same for you. When we sell a dress we take the retail value stated on our website and subtract the rental fee you have already paid. Please note, because we are in the business of renting rather than retailing, we are unable to price match with other retailers. Can I – or should I – wash or dry clean the dress?

Please do not wash or dry clean any of our dresses. In keeping with our policy of making things easier for you, we have the dresses dry cleaned as soon as they are returned to us. We use specialized dry cleaners in an effort to preserve the quality of our dresses while also providing our customers with dresses in the very best condition.

What if I spill something on the dress?

If you spill something on a dress – and we certainly understand it may happen – please DO NOT overly blot the dress; do not rub it; do not put soap and water or any other solution on it; do not wash it; do not have it dry cleaned. Our dry cleaner is exceptional, and if they receive the dress as soon as possible, without any attempts made to remove the stain, their chances of getting the dress clean are nearly 100%. If you follow our instructions and work with us in good faith, we will not charge you for a dress that is accidentally stained. Within 24 hours of the accident, please notify us via email at customerservice@rentmaternitywear.com or by phone 1.888.769.7692 to let us know what happened. Then, put the dress in the pre-labeled polybag that was enclosed with your order and drop the ploybag into a mailbox, preferably within 24 hours of the accident.

Will I be charged for the dress if something happens to it (stain, tear, etc…)?

While a dress in your possession, if something is spilled on it, or a button falls off, or it gets torn, or even something worse, please DO NOT try to repair or clean the dress. Please notify customer service via e-mail at customerservice@rentmaternitywear.com or by phone 1.888.769.7692 immediately and return the dress as is. Once we receive the dress we will assess the damage and determine what course of action is necessary. If we are able to repair and clean the dress, our standard rental conditions will apply and you most likely will not be charged. However, per the Rental Agreement, if we are unable to salvage the dress, it is at our discretion alone to decide to charge you, or not charge you, for the retail value of the dress.
